Building Summer Fun

Bayview Houses Gets a New Playground

It began as an idea, with crayon drawings from children at Bayview Houses imagining their dream playgrounds, and it became a reality on June 9, when, in just eight hours, 150 volunteers built a new playground that kids and families at the development will enjoy for many sunny days to come.

The new playground at Bayview was made possible through “NextGen NYCHA Plays,” a partnership between NYCHA; KaBOOM!, a national non-profit dedicated to play; and the Fund for Public Housing to provide safe, fun play spaces for children at NYCHA developments. The first playground was built in November 2017 at Pomonok Houses in Queens.
