Glenmore Plaza Senior Center Raises Awareness About Breast Cancer

On October 13, Glenmore Plaza Senior Center held its second annual Breast Cancer Awareness event.

They wore pink shirts, hats, and held signs as they did a mini-breast cancer awareness walk twice around the block. Glenmore Plaza seniors were joined by members from NYCHA’s other Brooklyn senior centers. They also said a prayer for those lost to breast cancer and released white balloons with pink ribbons into the sky.

The event also featured breast cancer survivors sharing their stories, presentations with important information about breast cancer, including from students at the Brownsville Collaborative Middle School, lunch, raffles, and free blood pressure examinations.

The event was organized by Glenmore Plaza Senior Center Director Gilian Salnave and Program Assistant Consultant Nicole Farrell, with support from AlphaCare, who provided a nurse from Sobola Enterprises & Home Care Services Inc.
